Local libraries sponsor Recycled Art Competition Carroll County on the Same Page announced a Recycled Art Competition will be held in October. The contest is inspired by the underlying theme of resourcefulness in "The Glass Castle," a book the program offered this summer. Individuals age 14 and older are invited to submit a work that utilizes items that are found, discarded or recyclable. Organizations, classes and businesses are also invited to submit a collaborative work. Art entries should be delivered to Delphi Public Library Oct. 19 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Individuals may submit up to three works. Three winning submissions will be chosen. An Art Exhibition will be held Oct. 22 through 29. A reception will be held at 7 p.m. the final day of the exhibit. Winning submissions and silent auction results will be announced at the reception. A portion of silent auction proceeds will benefit Carroll County Habitat for Humanity. Examples of reused or recycled items which may be used in the art include old kitchen utensils, scrap fabrics, computer parts, old bike tubes, bottle caps, cans, bottles, cardboard, plastic, scrap metal, hardware and left-over paint. Carroll County on the Same Page is a cooperative effort of Camden-Jackson Township, Delphi and Flora-Monroe Township libraries. The program is designed to encourage the entire community to read the same book and to build better community through reading and sharing ideas. Applications and entry rules may be picked up at all area libraries. Call Sara Daly Brosman at (765) 564-2929 for information. |
