Scrabble Fund Fest to help literacy volunteers

"Scrabble Fund Fest" will be Sept. 24 from 7-9 p.m. in Monticello at the American Legion Hall, 405 E.Washington St. The event is co-sponsored by the Literacy Volunteers of White County.

The annual fundraiser features the board game Scrabblewith altered rules that allow both skilled and unskilled players to participate individually or on teams of two to six players.

Anyone from junior high to adultmay play.Adonation is required to join the game. Trophies and door prizes will be awarded.

Donations help provide free one-on-one tutoring to any adult seeking to improve their literacy skills. Programs include English as a second language, citizenship test preparation, GED preparation, basic math, writing, reading, and life skills.
