Increase in daytime residential burglaries The Carroll County Sheriff's Department has experienced an increase in daytime residential burglaries. Sheriff Tony Burns has asked for the public's help in preventing break-ins. Burglars have shifted focus of breaking into homes at night to driving through open county roads and country highways during the day and seeking secluded and unoccupied residences to burglarize. Residents should call the sheriff's department at (765) 564-2413 if: • an unfamiliar vehicle passes slowly or frequently while the operator stares or stops for no apparent reason. • at home and an unfamiliar person asks for directions, a phone, bathroom or makes a strange request. • anything suspicious or threatening occurs in the area. A vehicle description or license plate number will aid law enforcement in finding alleged perpetrators. "Always, if you should feel threatened or have an emergency please don't hesitate to immediately call 911," said Burns. "Our goal is to make our community as safe as possible. With your help at this time we believe we can do just that." |
