Announcements Rossville Family Medicine, Duane Estep, M.D. and Wanda Estep, M.D., are offering free HEALTH RELATED SEMINARS at the Rossville Community Library. Each seminar will begin at 6:30 p.m. Topics to be discussed include: Sept. 11: "Keys to avoiding heart attack and stroke. Knowing your risk." Sept. 18: "Managing your weight." The Indiana Department of Transportation has completed a WEDGE AND PATCHING PROJECT on approximately seven miles of SR 18 between SR 43 and US 421 in White County. Construction began in June. The improvements will enhance motorist safety and mobility. SR 18 is open to unrestricted traffic, excluding any changes after final inspection. The Brookston Merchants' Apple Popcorn Festival Committee is looking for tasty apple desserts for the APPLE DESSERT CONTEST on Sept. 15 (rain date Sept. 16). Prizes for first, second, and third places are $20, $10, and $5 respectively along with a $10 gift certificate to Two Cookin' Sisters and dinner for two at Cracker Barrel. Contestants should bring their dessert and recipe to the tent behind the stage before 10:45 a.m. and fill out an entry form. The recipe for first place will be posted to the festival website. Noted home economics judge Carolyn Robinson will be judging the apple desserts.
