Local 4-H'er wins Indiana State Fair honor Carroll County 4-H member Susanna Haley, 17, of Burrows received top honors at the 2007 Indiana State Fair competition Aug. 8. Haley's demonstration titled "Cuckoo for CoCoRahs" explained how to become a member of CoCoRahs, a community collaborative rain, hail and snow network. She learned how to measure precipitation, where to install rain gages, measure the depth of snow, calculate precipitate amounts from snow, observe hail storms from a safe distance and categorize hail size. She demonstrated blue, merit, and first alternate in the Senior Natural Resources category. Haley is the first alternate for the Washington D.C. Achievement trip. |
