Gladys Gasaway Gladys Gasaway, 96, of Burlington, formerly of Flora, passed away at 11:45 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, at St. Anthony Healthcare Center in Lafayette. She was born Dec. 7, 1911, in Carroll County, to Jacob and Leota Unger Huffer. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1929. On June 11, 1950, in Galveston, she married Thomas G. Gasaway and he preceded her in death on March 25, 1992. Mrs. Gasaway was a housewife and a former member of the Flora Extension Homemakers Club. She was a member of the First Brethren Church in Burlington. She enjoyed college basketball, quilting, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are two sisters Esther Stout of Burlington and Pauline Rieg of Lafayette; two grandchildren, Karin Gasaway of Rochester, New York, and Kris Gasaway of Flora; and 17 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas J. Gasaway, and three sisters. Services were held Monday at Reinke Funeral Home in Flora. Pastor James L. Lund officiated. Burial was at Maple Lawn Cemetery. |
