Enforcement of traffic laws at CJSHS drop off, pick-up

At its Aug. 21 meeting, Carroll School Board authorized law enforcement officers to enforce traffic laws on Carroll school property.

The authorization was particularly aimed at parents who drop off and pick up students at the front entrance to the school. Because of congestion in that area, vehicles are parking in handicapped spaces, fire lanes, and there have been instances of cars backed up on the highway. Also enforced will be the oneway flow of traffic in the dropoff/ pick up area.

"This area is so congested that it's dangerous," said school board president Sam Zook.

The school will help relieve the congestion by changing the parking spaces to angle parking and by increasing the number of marked visitor spaces so cars won't park along the curb.
