McCammack is photo journalist for U.S. Navy MC2 Jason McCammack wrote and took the photos for the cover story in the July issue of All Hands, a magazine of the U.S. Navy. McCammack's feature was titled "Preparing for Boots on the Ground." In the preface to his story, McCammack writes, "The following is an account of their transition from Sailors trained to dominate the oceans to boots-onthe ground warriors assigned to fight the global war on terrorism in some of the most hostile regions in the world." McCammack tracked the Sailors during their three weeks of training at Fort Jackson, S.C., and Camp Virginia in Kuwait. They were preparing for assignments in Iraq and Afghanistan. McCammack is a photojournalist assigned to the Naval Media Center in Washington, D.C. He is a member of the All Hands editorial staff. A 1994 graduate of Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School, McCammack studied journalism at Ball State University. After joining the Navy, he completed journalism and photography studies at Fort Meade, Maryland. He was assigned three years to the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Carl Vinson. There, he worked on the ship's newspaper staff and hosted a radio sports talk show.
