American Red Cross Blood Services of the Indiana-Ohio region hosted an annual meeting and recognition luncheon Aug. 16 at Marriott Hotel in FortWayne.

Flora area resident Harry Shaffer Jr. was presented with the Outstanding Blood Donor award for highest donation frequency in fiscal year 2007.

Faithful Friend awards were apportioned to Burlington Community Park, Flora United Methodist Church and Honan Hall in Delphi.

The organizations were recognized for hosting blood drives to compensate for mobiles cancelled elsewhere, agreeing to hold drives during inclement weather or holiday periods, meeting drive goals, and securing volunteers who could help provide excellent customer service.
