Carroll varsity soccer starts season with win Carroll varsity soccer got its third season started off with a win last week. Playing at their current home field at Flora Community Park, the Cougars welcomed the Warriors of Winamac. Carroll took a 1-0 lead five minutes into the game with a goal headed in by sophomore midfielder Michael Myer off a direct kick by junior Justin Moffitt. The Cougars, led by a tough returning defense of senior goalkeeper Adam Tussinger, senior fullback Matt Morehouse and juniors Sam Parker, Chase Meade and Moffitt, only allowed one shot by the Warriors the entire half. The second half was well fought by both teams, but the Cougars put the game out of reach on a goal by Meade on a follow, off of a Moffitt played ball. The defense did not allow a shot the second half. The Cougars are coming off a 6-10 season, but are returning almost all players. The rest of the Cougar team includes Kasey Kult, CJ Grace, Kara Overholser, Antonio Delgado, Steve Bartel, Cody Abdon, Kiel Lester, Steven Arendsen, Cody Meade, Meagan Grace, Tyler Plank and Dylon Shields. The Cougars returned to play Tuesday at home against Delphi and are at home again Thursday against Tri-Central. They move to their new home field at the high school beginning Sept. 6 against Caston. |
