Carroll students attend leadership academy Over 100 Family, Career and Community Leaders of America members and advisers from across Indiana gathered in Indianapolis recently for the 2007 Indiana FCCLA Leadership Academy. Nicole Brafford, Kierstyn Harper, Emmajo Cottrell, Devin Smith, and sponsor Cindy Reinke attended the leadership training hosted by the 2007- 2008 Indiana State FCCLA state officers. The state officers presented different community service ideas and the students participated in a variety of "get to know you" icebreakers. There were three different workshops offered that specialized in public relations, community service, and membership. The students experienced the Ultimate Leadership Academy, where they enhanced their communication and teamwork skills. At the conclusion of the academy, the student leaders heard from a WNBA Indiana Fever player. Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is unique among youth organizations because its programs are organized and run by members. It is the only career and technical in-school student organization with family as its central focus. Participation in state programs and chapter activities helps members become strong leaders in their families, careers and communities. |
