Camden pageant this weekend

The third-annual Camden Little Miss and Mister and Miss Camden pageants will be held Aug. 25 at 4 p.m. in the Camden Community Building.

Emcees for the event are Miss Camden 2006 Paige Keys and TV18 Meteorologist Mike Prangley.

Camden's Little Rising Star Baby will be announced based on voting held the past two weeks.

New to the pageant this year is Camden's Golden Star. A senior queen will be named to represent the town for the next year. Winners of this pageants were chosen through penny war votes.

Pageant committee members include Melissa Red Elk, Jeff and DeAnna Sieber, Steve Hinkle and Brittany Michel.

Contestants for Little Miss are: six year-olds Dara Spence, daughter of Elmer and Candy Spence, and Elizabeth Johnson, daughter of Maylana Wertz; and five year-olds Lydia Hensley, daughter of Rodney and Teresa Hensley; Kaitlin Plunkett, daughter of Amanda Duvall, Elizabeth Watson, daughter of Dustin and Sarah Watson, Taylor Williams, daughter of Billy and Karin Williams, and Megan Pearson, daughter of Dale Pearson and Traci Draper.

Little Mister contestants are: Garrett Thomson, six, son of Jeff and Krista Thomson; Brandon Freeman, six, son of Mike and Cathy Freeman; and Noah Red Elk, five, son of Keene Red Elk and Melissa Red Elk.

Miss Camden contestants are: Megan Veach, 17, daughter of Troy and Randie Veach, sponsored by Delph Auto Diagnostics, Brown's Tire and Jenny's Restaurant; Denise Kendall, 17, daughter of Tim and Judy Kendall, sponsored by Kendall Excavating; Kara Schwarzkopf, 16, daughter of Kirk and Lori Schwarzkopf, sponsored by Bush Veterinary Services; Brianna Walters, 14, daughter of Rick and Cathy Walters, sponsored by Designing Edge and Misty Walters; and Amber Spitznagle, 16, daughter of Don and Lora Spitznagle, sponsored by her family.

Camden Little Rising Star contestants are: Noah Williams, two weeks old, son of Latasha Duvall; Chase Almager, 18 months, son of Celsie Myers; Abigail Mears, 14 months, daughter of Tom and Julie Mears; Emma Mills, 14 months, daughter of Benjamin and Stephanie Mills; and Kylynn Spitznagle, five months, daughter of Joe and Nikki Spitznagle.

Camden Golden Star contestants are Jacquelyn Frye, Carolyn Edging, Marge Sieber and Alice Reppert.

Winners will represent the town of Camden at various events during the coming year.
