School is in session and the library has many resources to help your child succeed in class: Free Internet access, word processing, spreadsheet programs, reference books, and experienced staff to help find the information needed.
Children who reside in unserved library townships and attend Carroll Consolidated School Corporation can purchase a student card at a reduced rate. A parent or guardian will need to sign for the card. Find out more information at the main desk or call the library at 967-3912.
The Saturday morning book club meets this Saturday at 10 a.m. to discuss the Pulitzer Prize winning novel, "The Hours," by Michael Cunningham.
The "Step Up to the Plate at your library" competition deadline is fast approaching. Participants age 9 to 18 have until Sept. 1 to submit a short essay on a character in any baseball book that inspired them. The winning entry will win a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. Entries can be submitted by mail or online. More information is available on our website, www.flora.lib.in.us.
The theme for next storytime is Dogs. The dog days of summer are gone but the library has some doggone fun stories all about your favorite canines including the big red dog Clifford! Preschool storytime is Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m.
Stories can be heard anytime by calling the library's Dial-a- Story. Currently playing is "Wylie." On Friday the new story will be "Billy Goats Gruff." Call Dial-a-Story, 967- 3814.
