Some county emergency sirens did not activate It was discovered in July that Camden's emergency siren, tested on the first Saturday of each month, was not activated by the radio signal sent out from the Carroll County Sheriff's Department. The system failed again in August, tested just last Saturday, but this time the Burrows, Rockfield and one Delphi system also failed, according to Emergency Management Agency Director Justin Darling. "It has been determined there is a problem with the radio system," Darling said Tuesday. "Repair people will be on the scene Wednesday. Until then, the sirens have to be activated manually, which is usually done by the fire chief or someone on that staff." Darling explained that the sheriff's department would call the fire departments to activate their respective sirens in the event of an emergency in their communities. |
