Old Settlers meeting teeming with awards A customary event during the final day of Old Settlers is the annual meeting of the Carroll County Old Settlers' Association. This year's program will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Delphi United Methodist Church. The public is welcome to attend. Registration will be from 12:30 to 1:30. Association president Charlie Meade will open the meeting, followed by an invocation by Pastor Paul Marcellino. Boy Scout Troop #144 of Flora will then present the flag, Bob Conner and Lois Powlen will sing, last year's meeting minutes will be read by secretary Meredith Ayres, and Meade will present the nominating committee report. Upon completion of the formalities, Bill Brown will present "Carroll County Covered Bridges." Conner will then present First Families of Carroll County certificates. Attendance awards for oldest man, oldest woman, youngest child and traveled furthest distance will be given by Billie Hedde, sponsored by Burlington Scoop. Nancy Ringer will present Carroll County Heritage Awards. The plaques were donated by the Flora branch of Lafayette Bank & Trust. Conner and Powlen will provide music before Marcellino offers a benediction. |
