State unveils promotional contest to curb tobacco use
Comet staff report

Officials representing the In- Shape Indiana program and Indiana Tobacco Prevention Cessation Coalition recently unveiled a new three-month contest to encourage Hoosiers to quit using tobacco products.

One lucky winner of the "Quit 2 Win" contest will receive $2,500 cash from Clarian Health. Prizes will be awarded later this fall.

To sign up for the contest, visit the Carroll County Health Dept. in the courthouse, 101 W. Main St. in Delphi.

"We hope the Quit 2 Win contest will motivate other smokers in Indiana to take that same first brave step of deciding that it's time to quit," Judy Monroe, state health commissioner said. "For those smokers who are ready to quit, I encourage you to set a date to quit smoking, and then make use of the many resources we have in this state to help you. It's important to remember that you're not alone."

To be eligible, contestants must be at least 18 years old and pledge to stop using tobacco between Sept. 15 and Oct. 15. All entries must be received by Sept. 5. A winner will be drawn at random and tested to make sure they are tobaccofree.
