Help fill a shelf and kids' minds
Jamison Conner reads a picture book with his mother, Gayle Conner of Delphi. Camden Early Childhood Center, where he will attend beginning next week, is asking residents to donate gently-used kindergarten-level picture books to help fill the shelves of its new lending library. The library will provide students with books they can borrow then return for different ones. Kindergarten teacher Sherri Cripe said the goal of the lending library would be to promote reading, literacy and time together with family. "Our focus is for every kindergarten student to be able to read by the end of the school year," she explained. "We appreciate those who can help make that happen." Donations may be dropped off at the childhood center, 205 E. Cumberland, in Camden. Call the school at (574) 686-2362 or Cripe at (765) 564-6984 for more information or to volunteer to help at the library. Comet photo by Kevin Schnepp
