Area young women invited to compete in queen pageant

Entry deadline for the Burlington Fall Festival Queen Pageant is Aug. 26. The annual event will be held Sept. 12, prior to the start of the festival.

The pageant is open to high school girls in grades 9-12, who are residents of Burlington, or reside within a 10-mile radius; have affiliations with social or church organizations; or are employed in Burlington. Deadline for submitting an application will be July 25.

Sponsors are required for each contestant. The sponsor is responsible for a $25 fee (checks payable to Burlington Community Club). A 5X7 picture is required and cans with pictures of contestants will need to be made for the Miss Photogenic Award. Cans can be placed in the sponsor's business and then will be out during the pageant for the audience to vote.

Those desiring to compete in the pageant should present the following information in resume form, typed: contestant's name, parents' names, sponsor, age, address, phone number, qualification( s) for participation, grade and school, club memberships, career plans, favorite activities, and answer the following question: What actor or actress do you most respect and what differences do you think they have made in the world?
