Delphi Elementary to 'kickoff' school year with tailgate party Delphi Community Elementary School will host a back-toschool bash and meet-the-teacher night in the school's back parking lot Aug. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. All DCES students and their families are encouraged to attend. The community party is meant to "kickoff" the school year in traditional tailgating fashion. Provided free to everyone will be fun, roasted hogs, Pepsi products, fun, chips, door prizes, clowns, fun, music, and fire, police and ambulance services. Meet-the-teacher will occur during the bash at specified times. First grade will be at 6:30, second and third grades at 7, and fourth and fifth grades at 7:30. Parents and students are asked to meet inside in the gym when their child's grade is called over the public address system. From there they will be released to go to the classrooms. Students in each grade need to bring a food item to the pitch-in bash: • First grade - salad items such as tossed salad, potato salad, slaw • Second grade - dessert items • Third and fourth grades - side dishes such as baked beans, macaroni, etc.; and • Fifth grade - vegetables such as corn, peas, or a relish tray. Parking will be available around the elementary school, the football field, or in the junior/ senior high campus parking lot. A trolley will shuttle partygoers between the campus and elementary school every 10 minutes. |
