Heffley
Heffley retires from U.S.A.F.

Master Sergeant James E. Heffley officially retired from the United States Air Force on July 17.

A retirement ceremony was held July 13 at Hurlburt Field in Florida. His former commander from Germany gave a glowing speech which highlighted Heffley's almost 24-year career.

He spent 20 years in Germany where he participated in approximately 40 separate deployments ranging from Tromso, Norway, above the Arctic Circle, to as far south as the Persian Gulf supporting the war on terrorism.

Following his time in Germany, he was assigned to Lajes Field in the Azores for 15 months. After that, he spent 22 months at Hurlburt Field.

In attendance at the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Heffley and son, Nathan, of Ockley, and Ron Bogan of Delphi.

Heffley is the son of Karen James of Delphi, who also attended the ceremony, and John E. Heffley of Ockley. He graduated from Delphi Community High School in 1984. He resides in Navarre, Fla.

Barrett completes basic training

Barrett
Air Force Airman Ryne A. Barrett has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

The son of Mary Barrett of Rossville, he is a 2003 graduate of Rossville High School.
