Lorena E. Mullendore
She was born Nov. 18, 1931, in Lafayette, to Wilbur S. and Nettie Belle Leming Tyrie. She graduated in 1950 from Jefferson High School in Lafayette. On Jan. 28, 1951, at Central Presbyterian Church in Lafayette, she married Charles E. Mullendore I, and he survives. Mrs. Mullendore and her family owned Firebanger Fireworks for 27 years. She had been employed at Lox Equipment in the maintenance department and also worked at Hillcrest Elementary School. She was a member of Union St. Wesleyan Church in Delphi and the Dorcas Circle in Lafayette. As a child, Mrs. Mullendore was the 21st and Kossuth streets marble champion. In recent years, she was nicknamed "Bargain Betty" as she enjoyed going to yard sales. She collected cookbooks, vinyl records and snow globes. Surviving are two daughters, Janet Schroeder (husband: Bill) of Delphi and Susan Mohler (husband: Mark) of Billings, Mont.; two sons, Charles E. "Chuck" Mullendore II (wife: Tammy) of Burrows and David M. O'Neill of Crystal Lake, Ill.; a brother, William Charles Tyrie (wife: Norma) of Largo, Fla.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, a sister, a grandson, Scott Foreman, and a son, Mark Wayne Mullendore, who died June 28, 1977. Services were held Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home in Delphi, officiated by Pastors Rich and Carol Schenck. Burial was at Masonic Cemetery, Delphi. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon's International or Delphi Wesleyan Church. |
