Meetings
Delphi Preservation Society

Delphi Preservation Society Board of Directors elected officers for the coming year at a July 19 meeting. Anita Werling was named president, Greg Norman, vice president; Dick Traeger, treasurer; and Bethanny Cougill, secretary.

Other board members are Joe Kitchell, Lynn Corson, Andy Cougill, Tom Atkinson, and Mark Scharer.

Corson reported on progress on the façade of the Assion-Ruffing City Hall building. The lower sashes were removed from most of the windows for restoration. The balcony was rebuilt and extended so that pendants that were originally part of the balcony could be restored. Painting is nearing completion on the cornice and balcony. The missing corbels from the north cornice are being fabricated. Restoration work will be completed by the end of September.

Plans were finalized for the Old Settlers celebration in August. Jean Cole of Logansport's Cole Clothing Museum will offer a presentation on fashion during the era of Delphi's Opera House August 10 at 7 p.m. in the Carroll Circuit Court Room in the courthouse.

DPS will sponsor tours of the Opera House throughout the festival. Presentations about window restoration and wallpaper conservation will be held in the Opera House on Saturday afternoon.

Trolley tours highlighting Delphi's historic buildings will also be offered on Saturday. Fashion displays and plans for the Opera House Restoration will be on view at 107 S. Washington St. throughout the Old Settlers celebration.
