Dream come true
Mildred Curts of Flora had yearned to take a hot air balloon ride. For her 80th birthday, her three daughters bought her a ticket. Her birthday was Jan. 25, so she scheduled it for more favorable weather - on June 30. Her ride began at Hamilton Heights H.S. in northern Hamilton County. All of the family, including greatgrandson, four grandsons, three daughters, son-in-law, and husband, were present to view the ascent. The balloon traveled in a northwesterly direction for 15 miles at a height of between 800 and 1000 feet. The family became trackers and photographers. The balloon came down in a back yard in a farming area. Mildred's family said she was thrilled with the ride and if given a chance, she would do it again.
