Stanley E. "Stan" Banes, 78, of Monticello, died July 15, 2007, at his residence. Born Aug. 18, 1928, in Chalmers, he was the son of Harry Edwin Banes and Thelma Ruth Miller Banes- Girton. On Aug. 30, 1947, he married Rita Souligne and she survives. He owned Banes Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning from 1954 until he retired in 1997. Among the survivors is a brother, Don Banes (wife: Sophia) of Delphi. Visitation is today, Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Springer-Voorhis- Draper Funeral Home in Monticello. Services will be July 19 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Monticello. Burial will be at Chalmers Cemetery.
