Camden's 175th Anniversary Celebration will be held Saturday and Sunday. The weekend is filled with many fun-filled activities. The opening ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Saturday. Another Saturday highlight will be the old-fashion horse pull that will start at 6 p.m. at the park. On Sunday, a community worship service will be held at 10 a.m. in the school gym. Pastor Dan Gottschalk will bring the message, "A Heritage of Faith." Sunday's closing ceremony will be at 4 p.m.

Several Camden mementos are being sold at the town office.

A book, "This Was Camden," written by former local resident Lee Appleton, is on sale at the library.

Donations are still being accepted for the decorative entrance to the Camden Cemetery. Donations may be sent to: Denise Packard, P.O. Box 206, Camden, IN 46917.

Camden American Legion will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the Legion Home.

Sign-up is under way for contests to be held during the Camden Fall Festival in September. The contests include: Little Miss and Mister, Camden Queen, Camden Little Rising Star, and Camden Golden Star. These contests are open to anyone in the Camden school district. Jewell Rutledge of Camden will celebrate her 90th birthday on July 23. She resides at the Camden Senior Citizens Apartments and would enjoy cards.

The following officers for 2007-2008 for Order of the Eastern Star were installed at the June meeting. They are: Marilyn Wilburn, worthy matron; Jeff Sieber, worthy patron; DeAnna Sieber, associate matron; Andrew Robison, associate patron; Marjorie Sieber, secretary; Eunice Lowery, treasurer; Cathy Berkshire, conductress; Susan Trueblood, associate conductress; Evelyn Chapman, chaplain; Mary Trapp, marshal; Shirley Schock, organist; Lucille Brown, Adah; Jacqueline Edging, Ruth; Hannah Hickman, Esther; Brandi Robison, Martha; Grace Deel, Electa; Mary Whitfield, warder; William Veach, sentinel; Jacquelyn Frye, soloist; and Paricia Fite, prompter.

Frank and Mary Whitfield were surprised on July 3 with a short visit with their son, Gene Whitfield, and friend, Cathy Dalton, of Wentzville, Mo. Joining them for the evening meal were John David and Karen Whitfield, Frank Daniel, Shanell, Zackery and Chelsea Whitfield. Guests on Sunday included Mike and Sherry Spencer of Logansport.
