Garrison wins bracket in State Jr. Championship

Megan Garrison competed in the Girls State Junior Championship June 25-29 at the Bridgewater Golf Club West Course in Auburn. She won the Louise Suggs match play bracket.

After the first two days of stroke play competition, she was seeded in the Louise Suggs bracket to begin match play. On Wednesday, she defeated Erin Ingram of Richmond 7 and 5. On the Thursday morning match, she defeated Mary Kate Thatcher from Kokomo 2 and 1. During the Thursday afternoon match, she defeated Lindsay Jacob from Indianapolis Roncoli 2 up. On the Friday final match, she defeated Kaelyn Lingenfelter of Rochester 3 and 2 to win the bracket.

On July 9 at the Fox Prairie Golf Course in Noblesville, Garrison shot a 6 over par 80 to tie for first, but finished second, losing in a playoff to Anna Trotter of Richmond.

In the statewide Mountain Dew Tour, Garrison is currently ranked third in points in the 15-16 age group out of 144 girls with two tournaments left to play. She has two first place finishes and one second.
