Francis M. Sebring

Francis M. Sebring Sr., 81, of Dill onvaleOhio,passed away June 30, 2007, at Harrison Community Hospital in Cadiz, Ohio.

He was born in Indiana on Sept. 8, 1925, a son of Merl C. and May Miller Sebring.

Mr. Sebring was a 1943 graduate of Delphi High School. He received his bachelor's degree from Miami University of Ohio and a master's degree from West Virginia University. He was Dean of Development at Belmont Technical College and a long-time teacher, coach and counselor at Buckeye Local School District at Dillonvale Public Schools and Steubenville Central.

Sebring was formerly Mayor of Dillonvale. He was a member of Dillonvale EMS and fire department. He was a paramedic and paramedic instructor.

He belonged to Dillonvale American Legion and was a U.S. Marine Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He enjoyed returning to Delphi every other year to attend his class reunion, along with annual visits with family and friends around the holidays.

Surviving are two sons, John Sebring (wife: Amy) of Adena, Ohio, and Francis Merl Sebring (wife: Lisa) of Mt. Pleasant, Ohio; a daughter, Helen Tansmore of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Lillian Cripe and Iva Dalton, both of Indiana; and seven grandchildren, Charles, Milford and Mary Tansmore, Fayth Terrell, and Trevor, Derek and Audrey Sebring.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Olszeski Sebring, and his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 6 at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Adena, Ohio, with Msgr. John C. Kolesar as celebrant. Burial followed at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery in Dillonvale. Graveside military services were conducted by McCook Post #529 of the Dillonvale American Legion.
