While the County Seat city definitely needs a new well and is having extreme difficulty finding a new source for water for its citizens, Flora seems to have no problem at all.

Why do we find this ironic? First, Delphi was established along the path of the Wabash River and grew because of that choice near the water. Still, the community is underlaid by limestone and it presents completely different circumstances from that of Flora, which at one time was known as Fountain City.

Yes, it's a "Tale of Two Cities," or "The Luck of the Draw," which seems to smile on one of the two governing boards and frown on the other.

Hopefully, the gods will smile on Delphi and help the community overcome this difficult problem. Certainly, we do wish those seeking to solve the issue the very best of luck.

If you're wondering what a paper-plate-toss is, come to Delphi this Saturday.

Starting at 10 a.m. and lasting about five minutes, over 200 paper plates will be tossed from a third floor window of the courthouse. Written of these plates will be valuable give-a-ways, discounted items and crazy prices for people zero to 125 years of age.

Thirty-two of the Delphi area merchants have gotten together to sponsor this event.

Come join the fun and catch a paper plate!

There is one way to reduce worry about your house while you are on vacation. That is to let the City police know when you are going to be away. Police Chief Gib Underhill says that the officers will be more than willing to keep a check on your house while you are away if you will notify them.

A resolution aimed at families that have two or more members on the state pay roll is being prepared by Senator William B. Hoadley (Rep. Brown and Monroe) for introduction in the senate. The resolution would prohibit more than one member of a family from holding a state job. Senator Hoadley pointed out that there are many instances where several members of one family now are receiving pay from the state.

Dr. James R. McLaughlin will be the new doctor at Butlington to take the place of Dr. Hinkle who recently died. Dr. McLaughlin comes from Cass county. He applied for a doctor's license, Wednesday afternoon at the office of the county clerk.

The Democrat has just printed for the Flora Telephone Company, a new directory of its lines, which contains over 700 names. The books are now ready for distribution and can be procured at the telephone office anytime after this Saturday morning. The book is not a complicated one, contains no advertising and it will be an easy matter to find any number desired. Numbers and letter MUST be called for instead of name. Secure your new directory at once.
