Camp T shows off new facility
Kampen Lodge, the newest facility at Camp Tecumseh, was dedicated July 5 with a ceremony which packed the auditorium with donors, artisans, camp staff and campers. The 17,000 foot multi-purpose facility is the crowning touch on Camp T's $7 million recent expansion. Hundreds of Carroll County youth participate annually in Day Camp, 4-H Camp, Touchstone Energy Camp, Royal Family Kids Camp, summer resident camp and various school and church retreats. The lodge is a one-of-a-kind facility hosting a 33 foot high rock climbing wall, handmade canoes, north country artifacts, an entry-way mosaic, unique light fixtures and custom artwork which adorns the walls, floor to ceiling. "It was a huge project," artist Mike Floyd said. "It was very involved, took a lot of coffee and a lot of late nights. I flung some serious paint!"
