Town & Country Baseball State Tournament begins Thursday

Paul Goyer Field in Delphi, along with Camden and Burlington, have been selected as host sites for the opening round District-level of the 39th annual Town & Country Youth Baseball State Tournament scheduled to begin Thursday.

Ten area teams in the tournament's Junior Division (10-year-olds-&-under) will compete at Paul Goyer Field for the opportunity to advance to the Walton Semi- State, which starts next July 12.

Camden will play Attica in the tourney opener on Thursday at 6 p.m., followed by Burlington and Tri-Central 1 at 8 p.m. Friday night games will feature Brookston vs. Tri-Central 2 at 6 p.m., and Mulberry vs. Delphi at 8 p.m.

The double-elimination tournament will continue Saturday morning at 9 a.m. with Walton playing the Camden- Attica winner, and Rossville facing the Burlington-Tri- Central winner at 11 a.m.

Both Camden and Burlington were also selected as host sites for the Minor Division (8-&-under) round with eight teams competing at each site, beginning Thursday night.

At Camden, Flora will open against North White at 6 p.m., with Rossville facing Monticello at 8 p.m. Delphi will then play Camden on Friday at 6 p.m., followed by Mulberry vs. Attica at 8 p.m.

At Burlington, Russiaville vs. Michigantown will open Thursday at 6 p.m., with Burlington facing Tri-Central at 8 p.m. Daleville, Frankfort, Alexandria and Frankton will play Friday.

Camden, Burlington and Delphi's three-time defending State Championship team, now playing in the Senior Division (12-&- under), will travel to Reynolds for their opening rounds, with Delphi taking on Mulberry Thursday at 8 p.m., and Camden and Burlington squaring off Friday at 6 p.m. Rossville will then open with North White Friday at 8 p.m.

Other teams playing in the 11-team Major Districts include Brookston, Star City, Attica, Pioneer and Tri-Central.

Major Division team's advancing from the Reynolds' site will play at the Semi- State held in Delphi, while Frankton will host the Minor Semi-State for teams from the Burlington and Camden sites.

Tournament play continues throughout the weekend at all sites, with the district championship rounds slated for Monday night, starting at 6 p.m.
