175th celebration approaching in Camden

Camden's 175th celebration will be July 21 and 22. Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by opening ceremonies at 10.

Music, food, displays, a poetry reading and demonstrations will be offered throughout the weekend. Visitors will be able to tour the town on hay, buggy and trolley rides. A church service will be held Sunday morning.

Historic re-enactors from Conner Prairie will set up at the park Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to conduct activities for children. The group will dress and speak similar to those in the area when the town was conceived.

Yarn doll crafting will be available to children in first to third grades. Candle making will be offered to those in third to fifth grades. Agricultural activities will be open to all ages.

Candle and yarn crafts will be limited to 30 children each. Call the town office at (574) 686-2121 to reserve a craft.
