Local artists invited to apply for annual juried exhibit
Comet staff report

Carroll County artists are invited to apply for places in the Crawfordsville Art League's 6th annual Juried Art Exhibit, opening in downtown Crawfordsville store windows Sept. 28 and continuing through Oct. 7.

Selected pieces entered from the 18 counties of west central Indiana will be displayed in downtown store windows. Digital and slide entries will be accepted until the Aug. 1. Three hundred previous west central Indiana participants have received applications by mail.

The many kinds of work will be considered, include painting, drawing, watercolor, photography, stained glass, mixed media, clay, sculpture, woodworking, and jewelry, as well as graphic, fiber, and digital arts.

Two professionals in the artist world are scheduled as this year's jurors. Kevin O'Brien is the executive director of the Kentucky Museum of Art & Craft in Louisville, with 27 years of senior level administration experience in museums and cultural organizations. He is also a practicing painter and illustrator. His fellow juror is Jan Shupert-Arick, director of regional services for Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne.

On Sept. 28 following the artists' reception, the exhibit will open with an awards ceremony in front of the Montgomery County courthouse, featuring $3,000 in prizes. Each year the activity has grown, as the 150-some members of the Crawfordsville Art League fulfill their voluntary mission to provide free annual exhibitions.

Applications are available by calling Linda Brady, coordinator, at 765.366.4776, writing the CAL at PO Box 2, Crawfordsville 47933-0002, and by visiting cvil- leartleague @yahoo.com.
