Delphi parade is July 7

The 14th annual Delphi Independence Day Parade will be sponsored by Delphi Lions Club. The club took over the parade after Bob Walton retired after 13 years in charge of the event.

Walton was part of the Canal Association, which sponsored the parade from its inception. He was named grand marshal for this year's event.

The parade will start at 10 a.m. on July 7. Registration and line-up for floats, groups, businesses, clubs and individuals begins at 7:45 a.m. on parade day in the Globe Valve parking lot.

Float judging will begin at 9. Awards will be presented at 11:45 at the Canal Center.

Prior to the parade, a memorial service will be held at 9:45 on the courthouse square. Representatives from Carroll County Sheriff's Office, Carroll County E.M.S., Delphi City Police and Delphi Tri-Township Volunteer Fire Department will comprise the color guard.

Bob Conner and Lois Powlen will sing the Star Spangled Banner. The event will conclude with a gun salute by the American Legion followed by Taps performed by Dick Grantham.

The parade route will be the same as last year, using Washington, Monroe, Market, Franklin, Indiana and Clay streets.

Call Bob Conner at (765) 564-2592 or Dick Bradshaw at 564-2212 for information regarding the parade.
