Double Dozen EH

Double Dozen Extension Homemakers Club met June 5 with Elizabeth Mylet as hostess. Ten members were present.

The June anniversaries of Etta Byers, Betty Bell, and Wilma Robeson were recognized.

Plans for the coming year and for participation at the fair were discussed.

Members and guests will be attending a performance at Beef & Boards Dinner Theater in August.

Virginia Marcellino was the prize winner.

The next meeting will be July 3 at the home of Lona Yeakley. Classy Classics EH

The June meeting of the Classy Classics Extension Homemakers Club was planned by Pat Rodgers and Kathy Northcutt.

Members visited the Carroll County Historical Museum and then had lunch and went shopping downtown.

Afterwards, the group took a boat ride on the Wabash & Erie Canal and visited the Interpretive Center and the Case House.

The next meeting will be a trip to Plainfield, leaving from Burlington at 8:30 a.m. on July 9.

DUV state meeting

The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861- 1865, met the first weekend of June at Indiana University Kokomo for their Department (State) Convention.

They will be meeting Aug. 9- 13 in St. Louis, Mo., for their National Convention. Esther M. Cook of Flora, past Department President, and her granddaughters, Tia and Melanie Cook, will be attending. Tia will be National Colorbearer and Department representative to the convention. Melanie is the alternate colorbearer and representative.

Cook and her granddaughters attended the Department Convention, along with Marilyn Sharp Broyles of Flora and her sister, Sharon Fish.

Any child eight years old or older and a direct descendant of a grandparent who served in the Civil War is eligible to join the DUV.

Wednesday Forum

Members of Wednesday Forum met at French Post Park for their June meeting. They enjoyed their annual strawberry festival, a tradition begun in 1981.

Members played bingo after lunch and received white elephant gifts as prizes. The club's current events were discussed.
