St. Elizabeth to help children in need
Comet staff report

Angela Meek
Trinity Mission has partnered with St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Delphi to launch a new intake center for the ACTS Benevolence program. ACTS is a multi-county program including Carroll County.

A volunteer callout will be held June 23 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Health Care.

The ACTS program provides emergency packs to children who have been removed from their homes due to drug or physical abuse and to victims of fire or natural disaster. Packs will include five outfits appropriately sized, laundered and sealed, a stuffed animal, and a Bible.

Volunteers are needed to set appointments, sort and prepare donated items for packs, answer phones, file, be a service mentor, be a 24/7 on-call volunteer and be a church liaison.

"We welcome the opportunity to work with the community," said Director of Auxiliary Ministries, Angela Meek. " It's a wonderful way for the nursing home residents to provide a much needed service."

The nursing home will serve as the intake center for volunteers and donations. The staff will provide intake services. A local distribution site has not been chosen.

"If they can get to us, then we will help," Meek concluded.
