Local fugitive apprehended in Alabama Carl Robbins, 31, Delphi, was apprehended in Guntersville, Ala., after fleeing Carroll County this month. According to a probable cause affidavit filed June 1, while executing a search warrant at Robbins' home on Franklin St. looking for items stolen from Brown's Tire Service, a methamphetamine lab was discovered by Carroll County Sheriff's Detective Kevin Hammond. Robbins was charged in Carroll Circuit Court with felony counts of dealing in methamphetamine, illegal possession of anhydrous ammonia or ammonia solution, burglary, forgery and auto theft, as well as possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, which are misdemeanors. He was also charged with being a habitual felony offender. Robbins traveled to Marshall County, Ala., where he is believed to have committed additional crimes, which include burglary and auto theft. He currently faces criminal charges in Alabama and is awaiting initial hearings there according to the local newspaper, the Advertiser Gleam. According to a press release from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, after criminal matters are resolved in Alabama, Robbins will be extradited to Indiana. Although Robbins had to be pepper-sprayed to be subdued enough to be taken into custody in Alabama, the consequences of his actions could have been more severe. "I'm glad the apprehension came to a peaceful resolution," Carroll County Prosecutor Tricia Thompson said Tuesday. "Anytime there is someone on the run, there is a potential that someone can get seriously hurt." Thompson said she expected Robbins to plead guilty in Alabama and then be immediately extradited to Carroll County to face the criminal charges, which are pending here against him. |
