Faith Lutheran plans Local Hero Sunday
Comet staff report

Faith Lutheran Church will host its third annual Local Hero Sunday on June 24 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Departments and services invited include Burlington, Camden, Clymers, Delphi and Walton volunteer fire departments, Carroll County Emergency Medical Service, Carroll County First Responders, and Carroll and Cass counties sheriff's departments.

This event is an opportunity to educate the public about the services provided. A certificate of appreciation will be given to each department in attendance, which may be used as an example of community involvement in grant applications.

"It has been my observation that this event provides an opportunity for neighboring departments to build positive relations with other departments, to mend fences, and to help set up closer working relationships during the next mutual aid call," said Rev. Thomas McShannock.

Each visiting guest will be treated to a free meal following the outdoor worship service. If a department is toned out during the event, food will be brought to the site so those guests do not miss anything.

Last year close to 200 people attended Local Hero Sunday. To help the congregation know how many to plan for, those who will attend are asked to call 574-721-6866.

Faith Lutheran Church is located in Washington Township at 6765E. CR 800N.
