Camden Camden American Legion will meet Monday night in the Legion Home. Camden Preservation Society will take a road trip for the June meeting to the Loren and Karen Hylton barn. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. Members are asked to take side dish or dessert. The Hyltons will prepare the meat dish. Camden's 175th anniversary committee will meet at 7 p.m. July 2 at the United Methodist Church to finalize plans for the July 21-22 celebration. One goal of the committee is to create something within the town that will be a lasting remembrance of the anniversary. The committee determined a decorative entrance to the Camden Cemetery would be a lasting tribute. Construction will include masonry stone work and two sections of iron fencing, along with an engraved durative piece to complete the design. Barb McCain submitted a grant proposal for the project to Carroll County Operation Round-up and a generous monetary gift was received. The public is invited to help offset the cost of the project. Monetary donations may be sent to the Camden Cemetery Board, c/o of Denise Packard, P.O. Box 206, Camden, IN 46917. Camden American Legion United 413 met June 4 at the Legion Home with 13 members present. Chaplain Helen Cree read from John 14:13 and an article about prayer life. The slate of officers presented by the nominating committee was approved and will be installed in July. Plans for helping with the town's 175th anniversary celebration and the Fall Festival were discussed. The unit's poppy poster winner was Caleb Kuns. He also won the district competition. Refreshments were served by Sue Wertz. The next meeting will be July 2 with Dorothy Stark and Helen Simmerman as the committee. Celebrating Father's Day at the home of Frank and Mary Whitfield were their children, Bob and Mary Frances Stilson, John David and Karen Whitfield, Frank Daniel, Shanell, Zackery and Chelsea Whitfield, along with Loren and Sue Burke of Las Vegas, Nev., and George and Nicholas Trapp of Flora.
