Burlington names new rep to EDC

Councilman Wayne Swaim submitted his resignation as a Burlington representative on the Carroll County Economic Development Corporation at last week's meeting of the Burlington Town Council. The council appointed Jay Bordner as his replacement.

President Dick Davis reported that Creek Run Environmental Corp. has scheduled its first water treatment at Mara Mart on June 6. He also said that the waste companies had repositioned the dumpsters

at local businesses as requested.

The quote for tree removal and wastewater line work in the alley between Seventh and Eighth streets and east of SR 29 by Carman Excavating was approved. Work is expected to be complete in July.

The town is in receipt of the leaf vacuum. The town's leaf burning ban will not be revised, however, Indiana open burning laws will be enforced.

Bryan Collins requested that the alley be closed for the Benefit Ride/Hog Roast at Burlington Pizza property on June 30. Following discussion about adjacent properties, restroom facilities, noise, and liability insurance they agreed to close the alley for the event once agreement conditions are met and upon signing of the indemnification agreement.

Stan Moore requested permission to remove old cement culverts near Jackson and Third streets. Swaim suggested that Carman remove culverts while in town working on tree removal.

The next regular meeting will be July 11 in the town hall.
