Infant found near death
By Debbie Lowe Staff writer

According to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, a twomonth old infant was found near death in Rock Creek Township Monday morning. The male child was rushed to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette where he was pronounced dead.

"The death is still under investigation," Det. Steve Mullin told the Comet Tuesday afternoon. "We don't have a lot of information right now. The cause of death is pending the microscopic and toxicology reports."

Mullin said the Tippecanoe County Coroner is in charge of the death investigation because the child was pronounced dead in Tippecanoe County. The autopsy was performed at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. Mullin said the lab results will take between two weeks and a month to receive.

"We don't want to rush anything," Mullin said. "We want it all to be done completely so that we have the total story when they are received."
