Meetings
Republican Women

Carroll County Republican Women met recently at the Rockfield Community Center. State Representative Richard McClain and State Senator Brandt Hershman provided the program. Both related their perspectives on some of the legislation that came out of the recent session of the State Legislature, which adjourned at midnight on April 22.

Property tax was one of the topics of discussion. The statewide average raise for property tax is expected to average 24%, with Carroll County averaging a lesser rate because the inventory tax was not abolished early. Carroll County taxpayers will receive a rebate the same as all Indiana property owners, but at a lower rate than the expected average rebate of 16%. A short question and answer session followed their presentations.

Committee reports were made to the group. Tammy Dyer, who made the presentation at the annual Honors Program at Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School, announced the annual scholarship had been awarded to Adam Bonner of Flora.

President Beth Myers announced the recent presentation of a book for the library project was made to Melissa Bishop, director at the Flora- Monroe Township Public Library, by Lindy Hylton.

The June 20 meeting will be held at Jenny's Restaurant, downtown Delphi, at 12:30 p.m. Following lunch, the group will move to The White Iris for the program. All Carroll County Republican women are invited to attend.
