Vorst to receive Hoosier Lifetime Award The Hoosier Lifetime Award will be presented by Area IV Agency on the Aging to JoAnn Vorst for her efforts in connecting a community of people and organizations in the spirit of literacy and self-sufficiency. The presentation will be June 11 at Jefferson High School in Lafayette. Vorst has dedicated 31 years to adult education and literacy in Tippecanoe County. She has been director of the Lafayette Adult Resource Academy (LARA) since its inception in 1976. Approximately 38,000 LARA students and 5,600 individuals pursued post-secondary education at the Resource Academy during her tenure. Under Vorst's leadership, 5,500 individuals in correction programs, 900 workplacetraining participants, and 4,500 job seekers have access to services. "I get to touch lives everyday, see a positive outcome and the difference in others' lives," Vorst said. "This service is multi-faceted and available to anyone.
