Summer Reading Program begins June 14. The theme is "What do you want to be when you grow up?" All kids in K-4th grade are encouraged to come and explore various occupations. The first day's program topic will be farmers. There will be a program every Thursday from 1- 2:30 p.m. to investigate different jobs that people do. The program will run through Aug. 2.

Library hours have expanded. In an effort to reach out to more members of the community, the library is now open from 10-12 and 1-7 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Those who work a 9-5 shift or those who wish to come after dinner will find the doors open until 7 p.m.

The library has many new books for the Senior Materials Enrichment Program. All of the Large Print books that have been acquired since the program began are on the New Books Shelf. Soon, the library will receive audio books and DVDs to compliment the Large Print books for seniors. Once a month books are changed at the Senior Center in Burlington for its patrons. The Senior Materials Enrichment Program is funded in part by a grant from the Carroll County Community Foundation, a fund of the Community Foundation of Howard County.

Stop in and work on a jigsaw puzzle and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. The Internet can be accessed at the library. 23JB-DPL

Delphi

Amateur photographer Missy Glenn of Delphi will have an exhibition of her works in the Gerber Glove Valve Room June 27. Western landscapes, the Midwest countryside and urban scenes are the dominant subjects of her photography. Glenn is the official photographer for the Dazzling Mills, a family of circus entertainers from Ohio.

A total of 48 aspiring actors came to audition for roles in Stargazer's Children's Theatre production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, to be presented at the DCHS Little Theatre July 21 and 22. Those interested in assisting with costumes or set can contact Sarah Daly-Brosman at (765) 564- 2929.

Participants of "Get a Clue" Adult Summer Reading Program, which begins June 6, can earn 'library bucks' for reading six books within seven weeks. 'Bucks' can be spent at the July 25 Summer Reading Tea. Each book selection will be determined by solving clues.

"Mother of Mine," an awardwinning Swedish film will be presented June 21 at 7 p.m. Discussion and refreshments will follow.

Flora-Monroe Township

Registration is under way for the 2007 Summer Reading Club, "It's All About the Circus!" The reading program runs through July 20. Reading levels go from pre-school through adult so the whole family can read for prizes together this summer! Summer reading is free and open to all Carroll County residents.

Charlie "The Noiseguy" Williams will perform Friday, June 15, at 10 a.m. Charlie Williams, "the man of 1000 sound effects," takes a new approach to storytelling with his vocal aerobics. Enjoy traditional and not-so-traditional stories told in an energetic, fun new way. You'll even learn to make a few sound effects yourself from a true sound impressionist! The Beta Alpha Chapter, Psi Iota Xi, sponsors summer reading programming.

Carroll County on the Same Page 2007 officially launched June 1. Pick up your copy of "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls and read with the whole county! We have multiple copies that any resident of Carroll County may check out.

The Saturday Morning Book Club will meet June 16. Members are encouraged to bring a favorite book they have read recently to discuss with the group.

The theme for next storytime is "Sea."1,2, 3, 4, 5 once I caught a fish alive! 6,7, 8, 9, 10, but I let it go again! Fishy tales are on the storytime menu! Join us for preschool storytime Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.

Kids can listen to Dial-a-Story 24 hours a day. The current story is "Beginnings." Friday the story will change to "The Golden Touch." Call Dial-A-Story, 967- 3814.
