Artie E. Cook

Artie E. "Buck" Cook, 92, formerly of Frankfort, died Monday, May 28, 2007, at 11:18 p.m, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi. He had been a resident there since January.

He was born July 31, 1914, in Wind Rock, Tenn., to Frank and Emma Tipton Cook. His first marriage was to Christine Tucker in Oliver Springs, Tenn., on Nov. 15, 1936. She preceded him in death on Sept. 12, 1982. His second marriage was to Nellie M. Gilbert Cockrum on May 19, 1984, in Pittsburg, and she survives.

He attended school in Oliver Springs, Tenn., and worked in the coal mines in Tennessee before moving to Delphi in 1951. He worked for 30 years at Peters Revington Furniture Factory in Delphi.

Mr. Cook was a member of Pittsburg Missionary Baptist Church. He served as a Missionary Hills Baptist minister from 1948 to 1984.

He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and reading his Bible.

Surviving with his wife of Frankfort are two daughters, Artie Lee Carlson of Monon and Ella Quesenberry (husband: Dave) of Maynardville, Tenn.; a son, J.E. Cook (wife: Viola) of Tahlequah, Okla.; two brothers, Woodrow Cook (wife: Margaret) of Mulberry and Horace Cook (wife: Jean) of Clinton, Tenn.; one sister, Lillie Mayton (husband: Shelby) of Harriman, Tenn.; three stepdaughters, Virginia Howe (husband: John), Margaret Ashlock (husband: Roy), and Billie Emery, all of Frankfort; one stepson, Michael Cockrum of Frankfort; 10 grandchildren, several stepgrandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, several stepgreat-grandchildren, and stepgreat-great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Gerald, and one sister.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of the service at 1 p.m. Friday at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi. Burial will be at Morning Heights Cemetery, Delphi
