Lack of child support payment lands local man in jail Carroll Circuit Court Judge Donald Currie got tough with one father who is behind in paying court ordered child support. After a stern warning to him in March to meet his obligation or face the consequences, Currie followed through with the threat of serious consequences. Terry Antibus was held in contempt of court on Thursday for failure to comply with child support payments. The defendant was ordered 60 days incarceration in the Carroll County Jail for the offense. According to court records, Antibus was ordered to pay $80 per week child support in November 1995. On Thursday Antibus was found to be in arrears in the amount of $47,640. Currie found Antibus to be in arrears on March 22 and advised he would be seeking contempt sanctions against the father at the next hearing. He advised Antibus of his right to counsel and appointed local attorney Patrick Manahan to represent him. Antibus was admonished at the hearing to "pay child support as ordered." Antibus was placed in jail until Monday at 6 p.m. when he was released in order to begin a job to meet his child support obligations. |
