Camden

Summer reading activities at the Camden-Jackson Township Public Library will begin with a special program on June 6. The theme is "Pioneer Days, Journey on a Wagon Train." The first Storytime program is "Packing Our Bags and Quilts." All program will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Reading Room. Deb Foreman will be leading the Storytime sessions. Registration for the Summer Reading Program continues through Friday.

Camden library is participating in the 2nd annual Carroll County on the Same Page, along with Delphi and Flora Public libraries. The book selected to read is "The Glass Castle," by Jeanette Walls, a former MSNBC.com correspondent, who writes about her unusual upbringing. Copies of the book are available at the library. A series of programs are planned throughout the summer.

The library will have a book sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Delphi

The search is on for Cinderella and her Prince Charming. Auditions for Redbrick Theatre's production of the Rogers and Hammerstein musical will be July 4 and 6.

The script calls for six female and two male principals, two male features, an assortment of townspeople, several royal court members and a chorus. Aspiring actors age 15 to adult are asked to call the library at (765) 564-2929 to schedule an audition.

"Sleeping Beauty," a performance by Steven's Puppets, will be presented on June 16 at 1 p.m. in the Gerber-Globe Valve Room. This lively and imaginative rendition of the classic fairy tale is free but a ticket is required to attend. To reserve your ticket, call the children's room or stop by the library.

Flora-Monroe Township

World renowned puppeteers Stevens Puppets arrive Monday, June 4, at 10 a.m. to kick off the library's "It's All About the Circus!" summer reading club, performing the traditional Grimm fairy tale, "Sleeping Beauty."

Stevens Puppets is celebrating their 70th year of producing unforgettable and one of a kind marionette productions for children of all ages. These marionettes were authentically created in old world style, specializing in classic children's literature, and classic fairy tales.

Stevens Puppets programs are intended for all ages and have a moral or life skill woven cleverly and discretely throughout. The Beta Alpha Chapter, Psi Iota Xi, sponsors summer reading programming.

Student art from Brenda Daly Reid's Portrait Drawing Class is currently being displayed in the library. Students exhibiting work are Meg Burnworth, Nancy Mayer, Noah Reed, Marge Viney, and Charlotte Wallace. Also shown are portrait examples drawn by Ms. Reid. The art exhibit is on the main level of the library.

The theme for next storytime is "Summer." The days are long, hot, and lazy. Cool off in the library and listen to some hot stories! Join us for preschool storytime Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.

Kids can listen to Dial-a- Story 24 hours a day, providing story fun for small children. The current story is "Punishment: Pandora." Friday the story will change to "Beginnings." Call Dial-A-Story, 967- 3814.
