Announcements Volunteer Recognition Day will be June 2 for all DELPHI HISTORIC TRAILS/CANAL volunteers. For those who have volunteered during the last year, there will be a free lunch at noon at the shelter in Canal Park, 1030 North Washington. All volunteers will receive an Earth Team hat or shirt in recognition of assistance in this community. The public is welcome at 12:30 to watch the recognition and to then join in the long walk south on the canal towpath to the historic 1840s Paper Mill site, Lock #33 and Irish Construction Camp. The walk leaves at 1 p.m. from Canal Park. DELPHI ART CLUB will meet at 7 p.m. June 7 at the Secret Gardens Art Gallery on Main Street, Delphi, across from the south side of the courthouse. The program will be on "Legal Art Business" and a watercolor set up. All are to bring their own watercolor paints and brushes. Paper will be furnished. Members should also bring their "Winter Challenge" art projects because they will be judged at this meeting. Hostesses will be Barbara Humphrey and Phyllis Porter. DOLLY MADISON EXTENSION HOMEMAKERS will meet June 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the home of Pat Frey. Devotions will be led by Doris Walton. Secret pals will be revealed at the meeting. Delphi Lions Club will sponsor an INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE July 7 beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will begin and end at the former Gerber-Globe Valve parking lot on N. Washington St. The June 6 WEDNESDAYS IN THE WILD program will be "Towpaths, Dams, Locks & the Irish" - at Delphi's Trailhead Park from 1-3 p.m. Go "over the river and through the woods" on a narrated twohour walk along historic canal trails with guide Dan McCain. Meet at the Trailhead Park shelter at 1 p.m. |
