Oracle baseball team puts 4 in win column

The Oracle varsity baseball squad has had conference game after conference game due to weather. They played the Indians of Twin Lakes Monday night and came out on top 12-6. The Oracles are 6-4 in the conference with two more games with Sheridan this week. Their overall season record is 10-15.

Delphi was led at the plate by Dustin Oliver's four for four performance and two run home run. Michael Myers also had a two run home run. Freshman Neil Snoeberger had a three for four night. Andrew Cebulla got the win on the mound for the Oracles.

Vs. Rensselaer

The Oracles swept a double header from conference foe Rensselaer last weekend. The Oracles won game one 4-1 behind the pitching of Kyle Bender. Bender had ten strikeouts and allowed one earned run. Andrew Flora was three-for-three at the plate. In game two the Oracle bats came alive scattering 13 hits in only five innings. Flora, Myers and Cebulla each had two hits. AJ Beckett threw the distance on the mound to receive the win. The Oracles won 15-5.

Vs. Tipton

Delphi got back on the winning side of the game, defeating Tipton 8-5. Tipton got on the board first, scoring one in the second inning. In the top of the third the Oracles answered with a run of their own on Oliver's single to left, scoring Myers. In the fifth, Tipton scored again making it a 2-1 game heading into the sixth inning. The Oracles erupted for seven runs. Bender started the rally with a single. Braden Atwood attempted to bunt and was hit by the pitch. Neil Snoeberger sacrificed the two runners over to second and third. Matt Lewis executed the squeeze bunt and reached first on a perfect bunt. Myers reached on an error and Oliver hit a single down the line scoring two Oracles. Coy Pennington then hit a fly to right that was dropped, scoring two more Oracles. Delphi plated seven in the sixth making the score 8-2.

Cebulla allowed two runs on one hit to the sixth. The Tipton team came out with three straight hits, the last of which was a two-run homer for an 8-5 score. Myers came in to pitch and just could not find the strike zone, walking the next two batters. Myers was replaced by Bender who shut the Blue Devils down the rest of the way.
