An expansive work of art
Students from Sara Brosman's Tuesday Afternoon Drawing Studio at the Delphi Public Library created a sense of distance and perspective during their last four weeks of class when they collaborated on a mural depicting the library at the turn-of-the-century. Students began the class last fall by drawing portraits and still lifes. As the weather warmed they moved outdoors to learn how to draw buildings and trees. Wanting to pull all of the techniques together for a meaningful experience for the students, Brosman led the class to think in terms of creating a cohesive composition mural. Done in ink, classmates worked to decide what period the piece would represent and what would be included in the foreground, middle ground and background to give it depth. After the show's opening May 16, the mural will remain on display in the Gerber Globe-Valve Room of the library. The final destination of the piece after the exhibit concludes has yet to be decided.
