Leta L. Lewis

Leta L. Lewis, 55, of Delphi, passed away May 14, 2007, at 10:44 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette. She had been a patient there for one day and had battled cancer since October.

She was born July 2, 1951, in Lafayette, to Van and Ethel Sneathen Lewis.

Ms. Lewis was a 1969 graduate of Delphi Community High School. She was a member of Delphi Pentecostal Church.

She worked at Indiana United Methodist Children's Home in Lebanon for 23 years as a house mother for resident care and later as an administrator.

She enjoyed flower gardening, yard work, sewing, various card and board games and Christmas.

Surviving are her mother of Delphi; three sisters, Reta Pattengale, Aneta Gardiner (husband: Randee) and Gerlinde Conde, all of Delphi; four brothers, Adren Lewis of Springer, Okla., Dennis Lewis (wife: Martha) of Delphi, Milton Lewis (wife: Kellye) of Lafayette and Perry Lewis (wife: Chong) of Sharpsburg, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Her father preceded her in death.

Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi was in charge of arrangements.
